Mr. Adil Darukhanawala, expert international automobile writer, founder and ex-editor of Overdrive magazine, has joined Next Gen Publishing Ltd. (NGPL), a Forbes Group and HDFC Ltd. Enterprise. At Next Gen, he will be Chief Editor of Next Gen Automotive, a Division of NGPL.

A mechanical engineer by profession and keen automobile hobbyist, Adil has been writing about automobiles for over 25 years. His achievements include launching India's first dedicated weekly motoring column with Maharashtra Herald, Pune in 1981 and his own Car & Bike International magazine before selling off his holding and joining Tata Infomedia in 1998 to start the very successful Overdrive magazine.

He also writes about Indian Motoring in five international publications in Europe, Far East and UAE and contributes to think tanks in Europe and US on automotive industry forecasts and future scenarios. Additionally, he has been closely involved with three international automobile encyclopedias and the definitive encyclopedia of world motorcycles on facts pertaining to motorcycling in India.

Besides writing, Adil is also an avid collector of model cars and has the largest model car and bike collection in India with over 4500 models! Using his engineering background, he has designed and built his own racing motorcycles. To encourage Auto Sports in India, in 1980 he also started the well-received national Motocross and was the youngest councilor on the board of the FMSCI (the national federation for motor sport in India) for five years from 1980 to 1985.
